EOCP accepts:
Corporate matching gifts boost the value of your donation to EOCP. If your company has a matching gift program, simply complete the matching gift form available through your company’s personnel office and please contact Anita Roberts at AnitaR@eocp.net or 510-746-3608
Gifts of appreciated securities may give you a tax deduction and reduce capital gains taxes, while supporting EOCP’s effective work with Alameda County’s homeless.
You may donate stocks, mutual funds and bonds to EOCP and receive a charitable deduction equal to the fair market value of the donated securities. To be fully deductible, the gifted securities must have been held by you for more than one year.
For more information on how to make a gift of securities or a wire transfer to EOCP, please contact Anita Roberts at AnitaR@eocp.net or 510-746-3608
You can be a vital part of ensuring EOCP's long-term impact in the community with a donation that also provides tax and estate planning advantages to you and your family. A charitable gift plan may help you make a larger gift than you thought possible, and meet your own financial goals as well.
You may make EOCP a beneficiary in your will or retirement plan, or make a gift that provides you with lifetime income. Whatever your decision, you will create a powerful legacy that will endure into the future and ensure that EOCP continues to help those in need with housing, education and job search guidance, money management, mental health and substance abuse.
Why make a gift from your estate? You may deduct part of your gifts as an immediate charitable contribution, reduce capital gains taxes, or retain or increase your retirement income. Most important, legacy and estate gifts are a lasting tribute to you and your family as donors, honoring a lifelong commitment to helping end homelessness.
How can you make a legacy gift? While there are many options, the most common and easiest ways to leave your legacy are through simple bequests, gifts from your IRA or life insurance plan, or gifts of appreciated securities. Please consult with your attorney or financial advisor about the best way for you to provide for your personal priorities. EOCP would be happy to work with you and your attorney or advisor in arranging your bequest or special gift.
Below are examples of sample language that you may include in your will or trust. You may choose to include a specific dollar amount, or a percentage of your estate.
“I give, devise and bequeath the sum of $ ________ to the East Oakland Community Project, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, federal tax ID #94-3078181, to provide support for its general purposes and mission.”
“I give, devise and bequeath ____ percentage [or ‘all’] of the residue of my estate, whether real or personal and wherever located, to East Oakland Community Project, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, federal tax ID #94-3078181, to provide support for its general purposes and mission.”
You may name EOCP as a beneficiary of your retirement plan. Often when these funds are left to an individual, they are subject to estate and income taxes, which can usually be avoided when you leave these assets to a charitable organization like EOCP. You may choose to give through an IRA, 401k, SEP or SIMPLE plan. Consult your financial advisor and request a Change of Beneficiary form, and indicate the individuals and charities you select to receive a percentage of these assets. You may also designate EOCP as a beneficiary of your IRA through a will or living trust.
You may choose to name EOCP as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Request a Change of Beneficiary form and note EOCP as the sole or partial beneficiary of the policy.
We are grateful for your consideration of EOCP as a way to make a lifetime commitment to ending homelessness. If you plan to include EOCP in your will or trust, please let us know so we may thank you properly.
