On Giving Tuesday: Keep Hope Alive

Tue, Dec 03, 2024On Giving Tuesday: Keep Hope Alive

Today, December 3, 2024, people from all around the world are coming together to celebrate generosity.

Join EOCP on Giving Tuesday and make a lasting investment.

Homelessness has doubled in the last 10 years. Driven by a housing crisis and continuing economic inequality that hits Oakland's most vulnerable, on a given day you see the tents and carts of people who are locked out by the housing crisis. At EOCP our mission is to bring people in: families, Vets, young adults, women and men have access to the resources available to build stability and connections to permanent housing. In the last year alone, EOCP served 1,468 individuals, including 332 children.

At EOCP, people who are unhoused have the opportunity to change their lives. 38% of the people we  served in 2024 through all of our programs, obtained permanent housing.  This is a remarkable achievement in light of the Bay Area’s difficult housing market. The work is hard, often messy, unending, but definitely hopeful.

The dedicated staff at EOCP strives to keep hope alive despite the challenges of navigating the rental market in the Bay Area. We remain grateful for those mom and pop property owners who step up to help the community by providing affordable rents and to the non-profit developers who continue to create affordable units. This housing combined with our ongoing services and support of clients will ensure that many are never unhoused again.

We invite you to continue investing in our community and helping transform the lives of unhoused people in 2025!
