Who can volunteer at EOCP?

You! EOCP serves a diverse clientele with a variety of needs and welcomes volunteers with an array of personal and professional skills and experiences. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and ages. If you want to get involved and make a difference, we hope to find an opportunity for you at EOCP.

Why EOCP?

We rely on a team of dedicated volunteers who contribute their time and skills to support our residents. Volunteers are vital for EOCP to enhance the wide range of services we provide for our families.

What can I do for EOCP?

The following volunteer opportunities are available:

• Food Services: Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to our residents, sanitization of kitchen and dining room; daily opportunities
• Reception area support: Assist our residents with their needs for information, mail, computer access by working at our very busy front desk; daily opportunities
• Database Input: Input data on resident services. This position requires two days of training.
• Logistical Support for Programs: Assist in organizing life skills materials, clothing and resource information for residents; daily opportunities
• Life Skills Training: Assist our staff in presenting Life Skills Training series or come and share your life changing experiences in gaining employment , education,  or improved health status with our residents during  life skills; semi-weekly opportunities
• Administrative Support: Assist our administration department in filing paperwork and administrative support; weekly opportunities

How much time do volunteers give?

Time commitment will depend on the volunteer opportunity and your availability. Regular weekly and one-day volunteer opportunities are both available.

Which days and times can I volunteer?

Volunteer opportunities usually occur Monday through Friday, between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. However, for those interested in volunteering in our Life Skills Training Program the hours are 7:00 P.M. – 8:30 P.M on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Do you have an internship program or accept college students looking for a field study?

We do not currently have an official college internship program; however, if you are interested in a full or part-time placement at EOCP, please contact Mary Ourng, Office Manager at mary.o@eocp.net or 510-746-3605 with any questions and attach a resume and cover letter detailing your work experience, field of study, certification and skills, and your specific interest in working with EOCP. In the past, EOCP has provided experience to Cal-State East Bay, Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) interns.

Do you participate in Americorps or Americorps VISTA?

We have not participated in any of these programs but are open to do so if the applicant fits our needs.
